Line 01 · Flying Dome Theater

5D flying theater

The core projection format of the flying line: 6-axis dynamic seats flying through a hemispherical or fully wrapped ball screen of 15–30 metres, with wind, mist, scent and vibration synchronised to the film.

The 5D flying theater is built from three synchronised systems. The dynamic seat system uses a multi-degree-of-freedom (6-axis) motion platform to simulate diving, rotation and falling in step with the film plot: the published figures give a maximum tilt angle of +/-30 degrees, a load range of 50–150 kg per seat, and action synchronisation accuracy of 10 milliseconds or better, which is what allows high-intensity dynamics such as falls and sharp turns to read as flight rather than as a ride mechanism.

The visual system pairs a hemispherical or fully enclosed ball screen — diameter 15–30 metres, with a curvature radius suited to 180–360 degree viewing coverage — with 4K laser projection at a pixel density of 120,000 points per square metre or more and a 120 Hz refresh rate, so the image stays seamless and smooth from any seat position.

The third system is the environmental effects device. Basic modules cover wind (adjustable from level 0 to 8), water mist from micrometer-level nozzles, and vibration from 5 to 50 Hz; expansion modules add aroma release supporting 10 odor libraries and leg-scanning effects triggered by infrared sensing. If you are still deciding between 5D formats, the 5D flying cinema publishes a larger 23–30 m screen range and a double-layer track option.

Core technology composition

  • Dynamic seat system — 6-DOF motion (lift, pitch, yaw, translation, roll, rotation), tilt to +/-30 degrees, sync accuracy <= 10 ms.
  • Ball screen and projection — 15–30 m hemispherical or fully wrapped screen, 4K laser projection, 120 Hz refresh.
  • Environmental effects — wind levels 0–8, micron-nozzle water mist, 5–50 Hz vibration, aroma library, infrared leg scanning.

What to confirm for your project

  • Fix your screen diameter first: diameter drives hall height, projector count and seat rows, and it is the hardest figure to change after building design starts.
  • Confirm film supply with the configuration — the system is specified for flying films, and content format (resolution, frame rate, motion track) must match the platform you order.
  • Ask about minimum order requirements and lead time for your proposed configuration; packing is by container or as the customer requires, with delivery to major ports in your country.

Buyer questions

What does the '5D' add over a standard flying theater?

Beyond the 3D image and the motion seats, the 5D format layers environmental effects — wind, water mist, vibration, fragrance and leg scanning — synchronised with the film. Our 5D cinema guide explains the format labels.

How accurate is the motion synchronisation?

The published figure is an action synchronisation accuracy of 10 ms or better between the film and the 6-axis seat platform, which is what lets falls and sharp turns feel immediate.

What building does a 15–30 m screen need?

Hall height and floor space scale with the diameter you choose. Send your hall dimensions with the inquiry and ask which diameter in the 15–30 m range fits.
