Line 06 · Magnetic Flux Leakage Detector
Eddy current testing machine
The complementary method in the inspection line: eddy current testing for small-bore lines down to DN65, with modular detection sections that scale accuracy to the job.
Eddy current testing earns its place in this line by going where MFL tools cannot: the published minimum diameter passes through DN65 pipelines, which makes the machine especially suitable for oilfield gathering and transportation lines and urban gas pipelines — the small-bore networks that large-diameter inspection pigs never reach.
The detection claims are specific: it can detect holes, as well as large-area corrosion of over 15% (the specification records the detection threshold as defects of 10 mm x 10 mm x 15% depth or deeper internal defects). The design is modular — detection sections can be expanded and added according to requirements to improve detection accuracy — so a survey can start with a screening configuration and add sections where the line's condition demands quantification.
Its operating envelope matches the MFL fleet so programmes can mix methods per line: pressure range 0–10 MPa; working temperature -10 to 80 degrees C; bend passage at 1.5D or greater; deformation ability through straight pipe of 15% OD or less; and continuous working time of more than 50 hours. The MFL vs eddy current comparison explains when each method leads.
Core advantages on record
- Small-bore reach — passes DN65 pipelines; suited to oilfield gathering lines and urban gas networks.
- Defined detection — holes, and corrosion beyond 15% wall loss (10 mm x 10 mm x 15% threshold).
- Modular sections — detection sections expand to raise accuracy where the line requires it.

What to confirm for your project
- Map your small-bore network first (DN65 and up) — this machine exists for the lines your ILI programme currently skips.
- Decide screening vs quantification scope: modular sections let you pay for accuracy only where the first pass finds damage.
- Ask about minimum order requirements and lead time for your proposed configuration.
Buyer questions
When should we choose eddy current over MFL?
For small diameters (down to DN65) and near-surface defect work. MFL leads on large lines and full-wall metal-loss quantification — the comparison page lays out both.
What defects can it detect?
Holes, and large-area corrosion over 15% — with a recorded detection threshold of 10 mm x 10 mm x 15% or deeper internal defects.
Can detection accuracy be upgraded?
Yes — the modular design expands and adds detection sections according to requirements to improve detection accuracy.
